.Republicans Voted Against Recess Last Week, Democrats Pushed
It All 21 Republicans in the House voted last Wednesday against recessing the Constitutional Convention. However, the majority of Democrats, 70, voted to recess with only 62 opposed. The total vote in House was 83 against recessing and only 70 in favor. There were 5 abstentions. It was the Senate which almost unanimously, 30-8, voted to recess until two days after the elections, Nov. 9. This made the final vote in both chambers, 100-91, in favor of recessing.
It is common knowledge that Senators Bob Hedlund and Scott Brown are the respected leaders of the Republicans in the Senate. Bruce Tarr is also well respected. There are three Republican senators who are labeled as “bizarre”: Michael Knapik, Westfield, Richard Tisei, Wakefield and Brian Lees, Springfield. And yet, these three people have been given the leadership positions for the Republicans, apparently by Senate President Travaglini. It has been a source of wonderment to many Republicans how these people became such “leaders” of their Party. It is becoming clearer that these people made a deal with the Democrats. Whether this was legal or not is uncertain, but that it was raw politics at its worst is absolutely certain, many say. They point out that Brian Lees is retiring and there are three Republicans and three Democrats running for that seat. A total of six people are scrambling for that seat. Yet, neither Tisei nor Knapik have any Democrats running against them this year. How strange, many are saying.
