John Kerry to Address Issues of Foreign Oil and Climate Change Today at Faneuil Hall
After a humiliating rejection of his deadline for a troop withdrawal proposal in the Senate last week, John Kerry is coming to Boston at 11:30 this morning at Faneuil Hall to inform citizens about the need for the U.S. to wean itself off foreign oil and  make everyone aware of climate changes in the world.
To many, it is somewhat ironic that Sen. Kerry would be lecturing anyone on lessening our dependency on foreign oil, since he was one of the most verbal opponents of opening up Alaska’s region, our nations largest untapped oil reserve, for drilling.
Likewise, on his website he laments how developing nations have adopted the Kyoto Protocol regarding Carbon Dioxide emissions, and the US does “not have a place at the table” on the issue.  However, Kerry was one of the 95 Senators who voted the Protocol down.
Last week’s withdrawal proposal carried its own message of inconsistency for Sen. Kerry.  He was lobbying for a definitive date (about one year from now) for the removal of all U.S. troops in Iraq.  However, just last year, he said that setting a timetable for removing troops was “an invitation to failure.”
