Tony Snow Was Incorrect When He Ridiculed World Net Daily Reporter
We were correct yesterday that Tony Snow was not correct when he ridiculed WND reporter Les Kinsolving.
Snow was asked: “Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has written an article in Rolling Stone which revisits the Ohio vote in 2004. Does the president believe Kennedy has raised any new evidence of voter fraud?”
To that question, Snow gave this bit of sarcasm (before turning to another reporter): “No, what I think he will do is let you, Lester, be his emissary from Rolling Stone.”  We noted that Snow’s best answer would have been a polite and friendly, “No.” But we also gave another possibility which would involve a longer and much more dangerous course. It would express empathy for the families of John F. and Robert whose husbands and fathers had been snatched from them at the prime of life. As a small portion of that scenario, the spokesman would have said:
“We’re now witnessing the recurring drug-addiction problems of Congressman Patrick Kennedy who just checked himself back into a rehab center after driving his car recklessly at the Capitol.”
We have learned that as we were writing our story about Snow, Patrick Kennedy was pleading guilty in Washington to drunken driving charges. There was no longer any dispute whether Capitol Police had cause to be upset that Kennedy had received special VIP treatment after smashing into a police barrier at the Capitol.
In sum, the question from Kinsolving was very appropriate. Even if it were not, he deserved a polite answer from the spokesman for the President.
