“Death Tax” Should be Used to Destroy Obscene Power of
New York Times
We must
use the “death tax” to destroy the obscene power and inherited
wealth of the Sulzberger family and their New York Times newspaper
that comes with its private U. S. Senator, Chuck Schumer.
Although many
will say that we should not use tax policy to regulate our country,
they will also agree that we do it all the time. In a perfect,
libertarian world it would never be done, but this is not a
perfect world. Meanwhile, we have a serious threat to our country
that must be addressed.
How
many billions will it take to satisfy the lust for power and
money of Arthur O. Sulzberger, Jr. (Pinch)? We can’t afford
to find out. He’s already caused far too much damage as his
father Arthur O Sulzberger, Sr. (Punch), feared before he contracted
Parkinson’s disease. We must use the death tax and others to
remove this threat to our nation.

We must be pragmatic. Although
we are going to eliminate the death tax on family farmers and
others who are attempting to keep their family businesses which
are the backbone of our society, we must use the tax to eliminate
the power of dysfunctionals like the Sulzbergers and their “kissing
cousins”, the Grahams, who own the Washington Post and Newsweek
magazine, to name just a tiny part of their empire. These two
families, by themselves, control much of what the average citizen
learns about current events.
As a
policy matter, demagogue Schumer is seen leering almost every
time one turns on the television ---and will continue to do
throughout the coming election and for years to come --- that
the Republicans are removing the death tax only to help the
“rich.” That message is very powerful.
It would appear
safe to assume, therefore, that Schumer’s bosses will be happy
to continue to pay large inheritance taxes on their billions.
It is fair
that our inheritance tax should continue to be “progressive”
when applied to billions and billions of dollars. The accumulation
of that type of wealth is a serious concern. We should ask that
question of Sen. Schumer and then continue to question him again
and again whether his bosses will voluntarily pay large inheritance
taxes. (But Tony Snow does not have that fortitude to accomplish
that. Someone else must do it.)
As consummate,
radical liberals, will the Sulzbergers and their Senator favor
a “progressive” tax which hits the very wealthy like them harder
than it does the family farmer?
How
Do We Protect Our Free Press?
It is startling
to consider that our media is now controlled by billionaires,
such as the Grahams and Sulzbergers, who keep telling us we
should fear the “rich.” But they are also rich, very
rich!
Apparently
they are the exceptions that we should trust. It’s the rich
farmer who owns a few hundred acres of land, valued at $2 million,
that we should watch.
Here in Massachusetts,
we watched a few years back as Fidelity Investments used our
IRA money to buy about 130 weekly newspapers in the Boston area
in a vain attempt to make money by taking a lot of advertising
revenue from the Boston Globe, but it didn’t work and they eventually
sold the business.
How will we
replace the 130 proud, local owner/editors who used to watch
what was happening in their community? They are gone forever.
There used to be a whole industry of small “web presses” that
serviced them, but they’re also gone and will never be replaced.
But they are being replaced by the Internet if someone can figure
out how to make it pay. Or possibly it will be satellite radio
that will do so. The last thing we should do is to allow the
liberals to “save us.”
This country
will figure out how to do it if we let everyone know the truth
about the New York Times and Sen. Schumer. You can help! Call
your favorite talk show or write a letter about the Times. You’ll
be glad you did.
You are what will cause change in
our nation! |
