Romney Has Lots of Precedent to Ignore SJC Ruling |
The most celebrated ignoring of a
Supreme Court ruling was when Pres. Abraham Lincoln refused to
enforce the 1857 Dred Scott decision,
which had declared that a Negro slave was the property of the
master, regardless of whether they were in a slave or a free
state.
Lincoln said in his Inaugural Address of 1861 that if he
did so, the people would have ceased to be their own rulers:
"if the
policy of the Government upon vital questions affecting the whole
people is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme
Court, the instant they are made...the people will have ceased
to be their own rulers, having to that extent practically resigned
their Government into the hands of the eminent tribunal." |
 |
He flatly refused to enforce the
court order, and he is universally applauded for refusing to enforce
that illegal ruling.

| Tony
Snow Continues to be Just Like His Predecessor |
|
Tony Snow continued to be just
like his predecessor yesterday as he quietly read statements to
the press while the Democrats continued to pound the President.
The only one who appears
happy with Snow is his boss, the $25 billion/year
corporation, NewsCorp the parent of Fox. They now have direct access to
the Oval Office whenever they want it. They make Pinch Sulzberger
and his New York Times look like a tiny, inconsequential ant.
They don’t care what havoc is being caused by Sen.

Ford Motor Company Will Rue the Day It Started
Promoting Homosexuality
Ford Motor
Company will soon be sorry that it has started promoting homosexuality
as the American Family Association has started a nationwide
boycott of Ford. Why the financially-ailing giant would
take the risk of alienating many consumers on a non-business issue
is difficult to understand.
| New Seat Belt Law Failed
Because of Racial Profiling |
 |
The
new seat belt law was defeated last week in the Massachusetts
House It would have allowed police to stop drivers
who were not using a seatbelt even though they hadn’t first committed
a moving violation (such as speeding),
It was defeated
because Rep. Bryan Rushing (D-Boston) urged: “It’s been proven
that racial profiling by law enforcement officials exists in Massachusetts.” |
|
For whatever reason, most residents were happy to see it
go. When the vote came, it lost by a vote of 76 in favor and 80
opposed to the new law. Only the week before, the Senate had voted
24-15 in favor, and it had cleared the House in January by a margin
of 76 to 74. |
Medical
Doctors Are Not Gods and Goddesses
MassNews will
begin a series on healthcare next week which will show that the average
citizen wants to control his or her own health and does not want the
government to interfere. When they begin to understand that universal
health care is not in their best interest, they will turn against
it as they did when Hillary Clinton almost ruined her husband’s
political career in 1991 and 1992.
