Nina Easton Leaving Boston Globe

Reporter Nina Easton is leaving the Boston Globe in order to be the Washington correspondent of Fortune Magazine. This is the lowly position that Jeff Birnbaum held before he left to work as a reporter at the Washington Post.
Does this mean that Easton is leaving a sinking ship at the Globe? Does she know something that we do not know?
We do know that the owner of the Globe (and the New York Times et al), Pinch Sulzberger is in serious trouble on many fronts and his position at the Times will not last much longer. He made a fatal mistake when he personally and publicly attacked the founder of MassNews, Atty. J. Edward Pawlick, and his daughter in a fit of pique last year.
The Globe is having financial difficulties and laid-off many reporters earlier this year. Many believe that the departure of Easton in order to be a correspondent for Fortune indicates her belief about the future of the Boston Globe.
Attorney Pawlick who saw his wife libeled fifteen times by the Globe in 2002 and once in the Sunday edition of the New York Times (with its 1.6 million circulation across the country) would agree with Easton that this is the time for anyone to leave the Globe. Pawlick had correspondence this year with other reporters at its Washington bureau that indicates they know that MassNews is watching.
