Tony Snow Says First Press Conference
Was “Just a Mess”
Tony
Snow said last Friday that his first Press Conference was “just a
mess.” He admitted to being totally surprised that the members of
the press did not love him as he had expected.
“I
had this wonderful idea that this would be nice and collegial and
relaxed, but it obviously at this point is just a mess,” he said.
Snow
will appear tomorrow (Tuesday) at his first formal briefing, which
the New York Times reports “is certain to be another standing-room-only
crowd.” The Times is the flagship for the Sulzberger family, which
is now headed by Pinch Sulzberger, which is successfully leading the
fight against President Bush.
The
foremost advocate for the Sulzberger family is their own private U.S.
Senator, Chuck Schumer, who is a pit-bull on television screens everywhere
castigating the President. Most people do not know that Schumer is
a close personal friend of Pinch Sulzberger and was elevated from
a N.Y. Congressman to a U.S. Senator by the influence of the New York
Times.
If
Snow has illusions about his having a collegial discussion with any
of Pinch’s reporters tomorrow, he had better think again.
Snow’s
televised briefing (Tuesday) was originally scheduled for today, but
now has been postponed- possibly because of the realization of how
unprepared he was to handle the press.
