Two Slot Machine
Manufacturers Are Bribing State Treasurer Tim Cahill
Two out-of-state gambling
companies are funneling large amounts of money in campaign donations
to State Treasurer Tim Cahill. |
The
company which has been making the more generous “donations” was subsequently awarded a multi-million
dollar contract with the state Lottery Commission, which is
run by Cahill.
MassNews has
discovered that Scientific Games Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia, has
made well over $10,000 in campaign donations to Mr. Cahill in
the last 15 months, during which time it was awarded a $3.5
million contract to supply the lottery commission with the new
“Daily Race Game/Run for the Money”, a proprietary gambling
system run by the Atlanta company which will utilize the Keno
video system. |

Yesterday,
we
reported on the political contributions made by slot machine giant
GTECH of Greenwich, RI to treasurer Cahill.
GTECH has the dubious honor of being associated with bribery
and shady “no bid” deals in states all across the country.
It has stated publicly that it's very interested in the possibility
of slot machines being installed at Massachusett’s racetracks. It
has lobbyists in the state hoping to secure contracts for machines.
We have found that this
is just the tip of the iceberg.
The donations from the Atlanta-based
company came in on two dates - Nov. 1, 2004, which was just six weeks
before it was awarded the multimillion dollar Daily Race Game contract,
and then at the very end of 2005. Each donation was the maximum allowable per
individual ($500) but they were spread out among a dozen executives
from Atlanta or New York City. Some
of the same executives have already made their $500 donation to the
Cahill campaign for 2006. (Click HERE
