Lt.
Gov. Healey Has Wrong Answers about Judge McCann Allowing Child Rapist
to “Walk”
Now that Kerry Healey is running
for Governor, she’s trying to win back the conservatives she and Mitt
Romney completely alienated when they wrongly pushed Jim Rappaport
aside at the Republican Convention to make room for Healey.
She needs to appear
“tough” and is therefore raising questions about the judge who let
a child rapist “walk” without jail-time in Worcester County. A star
reporter at the Herald, Dave Wedge, first broke the story yesterday
morning and Healey immediately made her proposal in reaction.
Healey had it right
when she said that this state is “nearly isolated” in having lifetime
tenure for judges. But her answer is to appoint yet another Beacon
Hill commission, instead of giving the power to the citizens to take
charge and elect judges as happens in 39 states. She couldn’t even
accomplish that without the approval of the Legislature and the voters.
She is standing in
the way of any meaningful change as liberals like her usually do.
We are preparing
a report on this new evidence of the crisis in our state courts.

Boston Globe Ignores Judge McCann
Although the
Boston Globe was on top of the Judge McCann story last June when it
reported on June 7 that the child rapist had been arrested in Tampa,
it has reported nothing since the rapist, who was fighting extradition,
was finally brought back to face the charges here. It obviously is
considering other matters than protecting the children who were irreparably
damaged by this child rapist.
