Why Is Sen.
Kennedy Promoting the Loss of 30,000 High Tech Jobs to Foreigners
Moving Here?
Does He Or His Family Own Stock in American Companies
that are Benefiting?
When
the U.S. Senate passed a bill to reduce the deficit earlier this year,
Senator Kennedy added an amendment which would increase high-tech
employment visas for foreign nationals by an additional --- 30,000
visas/year.
This
would allow 30,000 more workers from other countries to come here
and take high-paying American jobs every year.
Originally, these
programs were necessary because they helped American businesses get
the necessary skilled engineers when there was a shortage of labor.
During the ”dot.com” bubble of the late 1990’s, Internet businesses
were growing so quickly that there was a need to bring in foreign
labor. Since that bubble burst, there has been no shortage of technical
workers. Instead the program in recent years is being used by some
companies to replace American workers with the cheaper, foreign employees.
The
mean salary for a computer scientist nowadays is $90,146 versus $78,169
for a foreign worker. In California, the disparity is typically about
$20,000/year for such highly technical jobs.
There
are companies nationwide where whole departments have been replaced
simply by importing workers on foreign visas and forcing American
workers to train those non-citizens who have replaced them as a contingency
in order to get their severance package when they themselves are terminated.
Is
there anyone who thinks we can get the New York Times or the Washington
Post to investigate and discover the connection these companies have
to Kennedy? Is it even possible that he or someone in his family owns
stock in some of the them?
This
subject became a front-burner in Massachusetts last week when Sen.
Kennedy blasted Gov. Mitt Romney for hurting workers by not complaining
when a contract for a Massachusetts food-stamp information telephone
line that was previously handled in India relocated to Utah instead
of coming to this state.
While
Kennedy was blustering about those few entry-level jobs that Romney
at least got back from India, the Senator’s own scheme to sell American
jobs was already underway.
