Robertson Reaction Reveals
Media Double Standard
August 26, 2005
Letters To the Editor
Dear Editor:
The
remarks of Pat Robertson about “taking out” Venezuelan dictator
Hugo Chavez have caused quite a stir. Even though he proposed it indirectly
and in sarcastic response to Chavez’ bombast about American plots
against him, much outrage has been vented against Pat’s undiplomatic
suggestions. Chavez had been aping Fidel Castro who often before made
the same charges about U. S. intentions against himself.
It
would seem that the liberal media is applying a double standard against
the preacher. Back when George Stephanopoulos wrote a column urging the
assassination of Saddam Hussein, after he left the Clinton administration,
those same people took the equivalent but much more seriously proffered
advice from the ex press secretary to be legitimate. Why is it that a
darling of the left can say things like that but anyone of prominence
on the right cannot?
Sincerely,
Minos Gordy, Centerville, MA
