Bernie Goldberg Is Welcome, But He Requires Lots More
Tutoring if He Plans to be a “Conservative”
By MassNews Staff
Any person who will help conservatives
deal with the liberal media is certainly welcome, but one must wonder
whether Bernie Goldberg is really one of us.
The following are a few of his quotes.
“Bernie
is one of the most original writers in broadcast journalism.”
None other than Bernie
himself wrote or approved this copy. It appears on his own personal site
at www.bernardgoldberg.com.
The entire quotation is: “Bernard Goldberg, the television news reporter
and author of ‘Bias’, a New York Times number one bestseller about how
the media distort the news, is widely seen as one of the most original
writers and thinkers in broadcast journalism.”
“I’m pro-abortion with reservations.”
Bernie:
Being “pro-abortion with reservations” is a lot like being “a little pregnant.”
Either a person is pregnant or not.
“I’ve never set foot in a country
club in my life.”
What does this prove? Do
you believe that all conservatives spend their time in country clubs?
This sounds like you never leave New York City and, as a result, have
never seen grass or trees. Now that you’re spending time in Florida, you
may be attracted to golf or some other sport and want to join a country
club. It won’t prove anything if you do (although none of our staff are
avid golfers).
“Well,
I’m not like some right-wing guy who’s way out there.”
We’re puzzled about who
the “right-wing” guy is. The term “right-wing” sounds like a judgment
of someone that you have made. Who is this guy?
“I don’t know anyone more Libertarian
than me on gay rights.”
A capital “L” Libertarian
is someone who belongs to the specific, liberal political party, known
as the Libertarian Party. Other people, many of whom are on our staff,
are “small l” libertarians. They do not belong to any “libertarian” party,
and simply believe that the best government in any country is as small
as possible and not intrusive in the lives of its citizens.
For some reason, the Capital
“L” Party in Massachusetts has come to be one of the most liberal parties
in the state. They are so strident on homosexual marriage that their feminist
and homosexual allies had to warn them to be more quiet because they were
hurting the cause.
“Jayson Blair is a fluke.”
Jayson Blair is not a “fluke”
but is another person who was abused by Pinch Sulzberger. Pinch “adopted” Jayson when this black man
was only 26-years-old, more or less. Jayson has always served Pinch’s need of having a black almost like a pet, who
could be brought forth to show how good and kind Pinch is. Even after
Jayson no longer served any obvious purpose for Pinch, Atty. Pawlick was
guaranteeing (as a former trial lawyer) that Jayson was being given lots
of “termination” money to be quiet when he was fired, lots more money
than if he, a poor person, had tried to fight Sulzberger.
So Blair was not a “fluke.”
He was just another poor person who was being “used” by Pinch.
Bernie was correct when
he placed Pinch at the top of the public enemy list but Sulzberger fooled
almost everyone, even Bernie, on this one. Ed Pawlick discussed this fully
in his book, “Libel by New York Times.” (All of the stories on our free
Internet site are much more interesting than these sound-bites.)
“I
really like Bill Clinton.”
When Bernie gave an exclusive
interview to Newsweek’s web-edition on July 20, 2005, he said the following.
*****
Newsweek:
“But a lot of conservatives say the whole thing with Monica Lewinsky really
coarsened our discourse. The scandal was sordid and tawdry, and he was
responsible for that.”
Bernie: Yeah, it would have been fine with me if all of that stayed private. I
don’t know, it’s funny to say, but I didn’t agree with Bill Clinton’s
politics, but you know I like Bill Clinton a lot more than I like Al Gore
and Howard Dean. Newsweek:
“Why is that?”
Bernie: I come from a tenement in the South Bronx. He comes from rural poor Arkansas.
In one sense, we couldn’t be any more different. I don’t want my conservative
friends to call in the firing squad, but in a social way, he seems like
the kind of guy I’d like to go to a ballgame with.
*****
We at MassNews understand that
most people are totally charmed when they see President Clinton in person,
but Bernie foolishly allowed himself to sound like just another liberal
when questioned by this important magazine last month.
Bernie
Is Welcomed Enthusiastically by Conservative Websites
Many good conservative websites
welcome Bernie Goldberg with great enthusiasm. For example, one such website
who interviewed him for his newest book this summer (while driving around
Washington for “more than 15 minutes”) gushed that Goldberg “inspired”
him and “now he [Goldberg] has openly declared himself” as a “conservative.”
There’s no doubt that Bernie is a great salesman, like his idol Bill Clinton.
Bernie
Hinted that His Real Goal Is to Work for One of the Networks
Bernie has hinted that his
real goal is to work for one of the three television networks. His exact
words were: “Wouldn’t it be a brilliant move if one of the three networks
said – and I want to make it clear that I’m not looking for a job – but
if one of the three networks said, ‘let’s have him on as our media analyst,’
wouldn’t that be just fantastic television?”
Our response is that it would
be “fantastic television” but it would still be liberal television which we already have.
“I’d
Make Racial Discrimination a Criminal Offense!”
A criminal offense !?!
Holy Cow, Bernie, you have to
be kidding. This is the classic remedy from any liberal. If something
is a failure, it’s because you’re not being nasty enough; just kick the
people a little harder. Our MassNews founder, Attorney Ed Pawlick, wrote
one of his first books, “Freedom Will Conquer Racism,” to tell how the
Civil Rights Act of 1954 was destroying the black community and how Jimmy
Carter finished the job in the 1970s and sent American business flying
away overseas to avoid the punishment that all American businesses were
receiving in the U.S.
Now the liberals are saying
it’s President Bush’s fault that we don’t have any industry remaining
and that the blacks have such low employment and so many black males are
in jail.
As a very competent lawyer,
Ed has watched in dismay as his fears have come true and the black community
has lost its soul. Make it a criminal offense??? What will that do?
MassNews
Has Lots of Experience with CBS Radio News
We’ve lots of experience
in advertising on the 50,000 watt CBS radio station in Boston, WBZ. We
find them eminently fair but expensive, with the highest number of listeners,
by far of any station. They do not have a “talk show” but report the news
twice an hour. Other than such advertising, we will not appear on any
radio or TV station (that is not live) nor will we talk to any reporter
from any newspaper, particularly one of Pinch Sulzberger’s many newspapers
and other outlets. We have found from experience that no media reports
anything without spin. Sulzberger controls everything that is printed
or said in this state. Unless you live here, you cannot understand what
that is like although we can guarantee that Pinch is seeking to extend
his power into every state unless he is stopped. (More people across the
country are beginning to understand as they read “Libel” by our founder,
Atty. J. Edward Pawlick.)
We’ve had no problems with the
CBS legal department in New York City.
Atty. Pawlick is a very competent
lawyer and does not have problems getting approval for our ads. But CBS
does require minute proof of every point and keeps Ed busy supplying many
pages of court documents, etc. so that they have proof of every word that
is uttered. (As you know, Pawlick has been involved with newspapers most
of his life and founded Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in 1972 which grew
to 120 employees in seven states, with 40 lawyer/journalists, 40 sales
reps, 20 other editors and writers and twenty others, before selling it
in 1977 and “retiring” to found MassNews. Therefore, he’s as experienced
with the legal aspects of newspaper advertising as the persons he is dealing
with at CBS and elsewhere.)
Advertising
on FOX News Has Been Terrible
Our efforts to advertise
on FOX News in Boston, however, have been terrible, even tragic. That
is not the fault of FOX, which has sold franchises for the sale of local
advertising for all of their outlets. In Boston, it is controlled by Comcast.
Because we are able to see that FOX constantly checks our website every
day (Bernie isn’t the only one) and agrees with what we write, we would
like to advertise on their Boston channel. We even signed a contract and
Sally and Ed went to the Boston studio and spent over a day recording
an excellent spot, but Comcast refused to run it only minutes before it
was set to air. We don’t know whether someone thought the ad was too effective,
but Ed said either they have lawyers who don’t know what they’re doing
or are “on the other side” of the issues. That’s too bad, but Ed is now
going around them by advertising “Libel” across the entire nation through
the use of other media.
Our
Homosexual Newspaper in Boston Was the Only Exception
The only exception to our
policy of no interviews to anyone unless they are live, was the homosexual
newspaper, Bay Windows, which was meticulously accurate. We always responded
to them immediately when they called and they quoted us often and fairly.
But they were sold recently and we have not had time to talk with the
new owners.
Very Persuasive to Young Americans
When talking with 250 Young
Americans for Freedom at PennState, Bernie was very persuasive as only
a great salesman can be. He denied “popular accusations of a liberal conspiracy
in the news.” But we at MassNews
have already shown (many times) that Pinch’s father, Punch Sulzberger,
revealed how it worked.
Bernie
also said some excellent words that always enthuse the conservatives in
the crowd such, as the media cannot continue to ignore the problems that
millions of Americans see and the media must acknowledge its bias. "If
they don't change, if they don't start listening to ordinary Americans
... [the newsroom] will become the journalistic equivalent to the leisure
suit."
Bernie doubts the media
can or will fix its lopsided views because "liberalism rules at colleges
in America." "There is more diversity in the Taliban than in
America's college campuses," he said.
The
audience, a mix of students, staff, faculty and local residents, seemed
to agree with the statements. "He was right on," said one resident.
"About 80 or 90 percent of the news you get is through a liberal
prism -- there is no doubt."
Many
students in attendance also supported Goldberg's comments. "I thought
he was very insightful. ... He came out openly as a liberal, but didn't
seem swayed by anything," said one. Another said Goldberg shed new
light on what he had thought to be a conservative bias. "Before this
I just thought FOX News was biased, but all the other stations are just
as biased, but it's the other way so it isn't noticed," he said.
The chairperson of YAF
said she thought Goldberg's speech reached a lot of the audience. "It's
good that he said it was a subliminal bias and not a conspiracy. ... A
lot of conservatives and liberals responded well to it," she said.
