Lyme Disease Is Serious Problem for Suburban
Children; Mothers Not Forceful Enough
With more and more children in suburban Boston getting
Lyme disease, it is becoming clear to almost everyone that this disease
is a serious problem.
Many doctors continue to say that Lyme is not a cause for concern, but
most mothers do not agree. They know that all doctors never agree on everything,
and the mothers are beginning to worry, as they should, about their children’s
health.
Since the first release of the Bambi movie in the late 1930s, the film
has inculcated many with the myth that “Bambi” and his son love each other
and would protect each other to the death, even though the exact opposite
is true. These two mammals will butt each other with their huge antlers
(which are present only in the “rutting” season), until one is killed
by the other or runs away from further contact.
Most men instinctively
understand this as do women who live outside of the city or suburbs. (Even
Betty Freidan and other feminists say that men and women used to live
in “harmony” until the “industrial revolution” separated them and severely
damaged the family unit.) The men have not been deceived by the Walt Disney
studios, but many women continue to be misled.
There is no reason to
continue this delusion.
As we have pointed out
in MassNews for many years, the “Bambi” problem first became serious in
the early 1950s when it adversely affected our apple growers in all of
New England and New York, as well as many other farmers. As a result, many of our apples now come by
airplane from New Zealand and other countries. This causes another problem in that Pres. Bush must send more young
American troops to places like Iraq to keep our oil flowing --- to protect
Bambi ???
It’s way past time for
the mothers and other women of Boston and New England to begin to understand
the serious --- and dangerous --- consequences of their misconceptions.
