Florida Gov. Jeb Bush Pays Romney
a Visit
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush traveled
to Beacon Hill late Tuesday afternoon to meet with Gov. Mitt Romney, paying
what Romney's aides described as a "courtesy call." Waiting
for Bush to arrive, Romney told reporters he wanted to discuss how the
GOP can retain the governor's office in Florida in the upcoming election.
As he entered Romney's office, Bush told reporters he was in town to visit
the media labs at MIT. Following
the meeting, Bush said the two “talked about things friends talk
about.” As Bush ducked into the elevator, Romney said the two talked
about education programs in place in the Sunshine State.
“They have some very interesting
programs in Florida to provide better education for the kids in Florida
and I drilled him at great length about what the programs look like and
how they work,” Romney said. “It’s very interesting,
a whole series of scholarships and opportunities for kids that are in
failing public schools to either go to private schools or to go into other
schools. They’ve got several programs that are quite interesting
and that’s his passion.”
