Reilly to Announce Safe Schools Program
Attorney General Thomas Reilly will unveil a new initiative Friday aimed at helping schools curb incidents of bullying, hate and harassment. The Safe School Initiative was developed by more than 50 law enforcement, educators and doctors across the state as a way to offer schools additional resources for battling hate crimes.
Reilly, a Democratic candidate for governor, will make the announcement in front of more than 300 educators at the UMass-Boston Campus Center at 8:40 am Friday. The attorney general's office also plans on launching pilot programs in several districts that will offer targeted assistance in establishing safer learning environments, according to Reilly's office.
