Letters to the Editor
The following was faxed to the Senate President,
the Speaker, and Senator Antonioni, and emailed to Rep Goguen Tuesday
(4-12-2005) by a local citizen.
TO: SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE SALVATORE F. DIMASI
SENATE PRESIDENT ROBERT E. TRAVAGLINI
Senator Robert Antonioni
Representative Emile Goguen
If the legislators in the
Commonwealth are for "democracy," why didn't they let their
constituents vote on such an important issue - as 18 other states have?
I thank my representative Emile Goguen for not only being a man of virtue
in this matter, but more so for being the ONLY legislator with the courage
to act on that virtue.
I also would like to thank
Gov. Romney, the Mass. legislature, and the Mass SJC for Election 2004
results across the nation. Due to your inaction, you activated millions
who otherwise may not have been so inclined to vote.
Why do you think Thomas Jefferson
wrote the opening paragraph on the Declaration of Independence and why
has it been avoided, unlike the second paragraph, which is based upon
the "truths" outlined in its previous paragraph? The basis
for "unalienable Rights" are "the Laws of Nature and
of Nature's God." We have this chaos today, because these boundaries
are being violated, just as any sport that violates their boundaries
would be chaos. Can you hear?
I call on you to end this
dilemma by exercising your duty to be the check and balance you are
called to honor. Do not let four people impose their tyranny as would
a totalitarian government. It would be a violation of democracy if you
do. The MA-SJC has become the premier branch of power because the Governor
and the legislature have thus far refused to do their duty and the despotic
branch is taking advantage of that neglect.
Thank You
Gary Kelly, Fitchburg, MA
