Cellucci to Join Conglomerate, Shut Down Political Operation
State House News Service
Paul Cellucci, the former US Ambassador to Canada and Massachusetts
governor, is shutting down his political committee, donating the $450,000
balance to charities, and joining a conglomerate that specializes in
automotive supplies, the horse track and gambling industries, and real
estate. Cellucci on May 1 will begin work as a top advisor to Frank
Stronach, chairman of Magna Entertainment Corp. He will split his time
between Magna’s world headquarters outside Toronto and its offices in
Massachusetts, where Cellucci and his wife Jan are building a new house in Hudson, his hometown.
Cellucci is also writing a book, to be published in the fall, about his time in Canada and public diplomacy after Sept. 11, 2001 and during the war on terrorism. Cellucci’s political committee will close down early next year, after paying its 2005 taxes, and spread its balance among the Children’s Trust Fund, Jane Doe Fund, Boston College, the Boys and Girls Club of Metrowest, Hudson Portuguese Club, and MassMOCA.
