Boston Globe Believes Four SJC Judges Will Be Removed
The Boston Globe appears to be hedging its bets and assuming that the four SJC judges will be removed soon under Rep. Emile Goguen’s Resolution which House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi has promised to bring to a vote of his 160 members.
The Globe reported on Friday that its allies at the Women’s Bar Association has criticized the appointees of Gov. Romney.
“This transparent attempt to get the Women’s Bar to pretend to be a dispassionate, nonpartisan group will surely fail as will its attempt to put the Associated Press in the same light,” said Sarah Pawlick, President of Mass. Citizens for Marriage. “The citizens have seen too many examples of both in recent months to fall for this latest trick of Pinch Sulzberger, owner of the Globe and the New York Times.”
The Globe did a followup story on Sunday, this time citing Suzanne DelVecchio and Chief Justice Margaret Marshall as powerful examples of "diversity" in the judiciary.
"It is too much of a coincidence that they picked the two women who happened to speak before the Gay and Lesbian Bar Association several years ago to encourage lawyers to bring them a gay marriage case" Pawlick said. "both women should have recused themselves, and the public is becoming aware of that. The Globe is hoping to portray them as necessary instruments of women's rights to try to help them keep their jobs."
