Acting Publisher
Appointed for Massachusetts News
By the MassNews Staff
In the wake
of the announcement of the resignation of J. Edward Pawlick as publisher
of Massachusetts News, Eric Francke has been appointed Acting Publisher
while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement. Francke has served
on the MassNews staff since last year.
Francke,
an entrepreneur who came to MassNews originally as a subcontractor to
help develop and maintain the Internet site, stated yesterday:
“Even though Atty. Pawlick is retiring, MassNews will not retreat
in any way from our commitment to conservative and pro-family issues. We will be ratcheting up the fight quite significantly, particularly
by means of tackling a broader range of topics.”
Commenting
on what readers might expect in the way of changes, he said:
“Regarding content, we will have a larger base of writers providing
timely news articles and editorials. This was Ed Pawlick’s original intent for the
paper before Pinch Sulzberger, chairman of the New York Times, began attacking
him and thus occupying his time and energy. Pawlick has proven it is now obvious he has won the battle which
Sulzberger began about homosexual marriage, and it is time for Pawlick
to carry that battle across the nation by promoting his book, ‘Libel
by New York Times’, which reveals the agenda of the New York paper.”
Francke continued
“We also want to increase the sense of community with our readers, which
is the quality that gives a site ‘stickiness’, or drawing power to pull
visitors back again and again. We
will foster that with an increased commitment to reader-driven areas,
such as community calendars, classified ads, and online bulletin boards.“
Speaking on
the retirement of Pawlick, Francke said: “We all have a tremendous debt
to J. Edward Pawlick, not only for creating the only daily conservative
news medium to cover all of Massachusetts, but also for the sacrifices
he and his wife, Sally Pawlick, have made over the last few years where
they stood alone to defend traditional marriage.
We hope to build upon and add to that legacy.”
