Letter: What Can Be Done?
Letter to the Editor
I am heart-sick at the incredible ridiculousness in the way that politics
and legislation are carried on in Massachusetts. Ted Kennedy, et. al.
are an embarrassment. The madness has to stop. What can I do?
Matt Jurkoic
Editors Response: Matt you are not alone. There is
no doubt that our national representatives, Sen. Kennedy, Sen. Kerry
are two of the most absurd creatures in Washington. Unfortunately, the
national figures are also the most difficult to dislodge. It takes a
tremendous amount of money, and one needs to have the right person poised
to oppose them to get the job done.
On a state-level, however,
things are quite different. Many of our biggest problems in the state
aren’t because of the inane bantering of Kennedy or Kerry, but
originate from the corrupt halls of our own State House and in particular,
our own court system.
This is why our focus has
been on rectifying the most immediate problems: Removing the rogue justices
and holding legislators accountable for how they have dealt with the
express will of the people of the Commonwealth.
One of the most effective
things indivduals can do right now is contact their state rep. or state
senator and let them know that they need to vote on Rep. Emile Goguen’s
resolution to remove Marshall and her cohorts. (For your State Rep.,
Call 617-722-1455.
For your Senator, Call 617-722-2000).
We have tremendous amounts of documentation on our site, and on Mass.
Citizens for Marriage to help people understand exactly what is
at stake and what can be done. We know that individual’s voices
are being heard, and on a local level, each single citizen carries more
clout than with a national political figure, such as Kerry or Kennedy.
Also, citizens can call the
SJC themselves. The number is 617-557-1000. Tell them politely you want
Justice Marshall to resign.
