News Analysis Someone at "Focus on the Family" Is Agreeing With Us! Someone at Focus on the Family is totally agreeing with us about their "toothless" Marriage amendment that Focus is trying to impose on us here in Massachusetts. In yesterday's communiqué, some person at the Family Research Council told how upset he or she is because a leading Assemblyman in California is demanding that that state be required to issue marriage licenses to homosexuals. The communiqué came under the name of President Tony Perkins, but he didn't write this. Whoever it was, the writer complained: "Even in states where domestic partnership or civil unions schemes have given same-sex couples virtually all of the benefits of marriage … homosexual activists are not satisfied. They want marriage." Exactly! The writer continued: "We cannot simply give in and allow our elected officials to set up counterfeit marital institutions for homosexual couples, thinking that this will somehow placate those pushing the homosexual agenda. Rather, doing so just gives them a launching point from which to push for more -- adoption, employment non-discrimination laws, and marriage." Wow! We couldn't have said it better. Is Focus really changing or is someone else going to follow, Atty. Ken Connor, the former President of FRC, in being booted out the door down there in Washington? Don't forget that Focus was the leader in California when it passed their toothless law in 2000 with great enthusiasm. They then watched in dismay as the homosexuals immediately took over the state. Just forbidding them from using the word "marriage," did no good at all. Just go to our archive and see what the Massachusetts Senate has in store for us if we are so foolish as to pass a toothless Amendment here. |
