We Must Learn from Vermont’s Debacle

Vermont quickly fired 17 lawmakers in 2000 after they voted for civil unions. But the establishment there made it a “religious” issue with none welcome except for evangelical “Christians.” As a result, the pro-homosexual Democrats roared back in 2004 and regained 16 seats to take total control of the legislature again.

We’re doing the same thing here:

James Dobson (and his Focus on the Family affiliates) stormed in here a year ago with his $120 million annual budget and took complete control of our state. His huge direct mail plant told the entire nation that he was saving Massachusetts from “gay marriage” with the help of God, but only if we would increase our donations to Focus.           The local Focus affiliate, Massachusetts Family Institute, joined Dobson in proclaiming this to be a momentous time for evangelical Christians, as did other Focus affiliates such as the Family Research Council and the Alliance Defense Fund.

Bishop O’Malley believed the Catholic Church should help thwart “gay marriage” (unlike the mainstream Protestants who are largely in favor of  such “marriage”), but he was preoccupied with his Church’s problems and lost heart as the Democratic politicians, led by Speaker Finneran, craftily deflected all plans to defeat “gay marriage.”

The Bishop never did understand, even though it soon became obvious that Finneran, the Catholic who attends Mass every day, has always been a mole working only for his own self-interest. This included throwing a bone now and then to the Church.

The Bishop has put all the decisions about this momentous, historic event about the definition of marriage in the hands of the Church’s retiring lobbyist for the past thirty years, Gerry D’Avolio (who is a big buddy of Finneran), with orders that everyone in the Church obey only D’Avolio on this matter.

Gov. Romney is “fighting” the issue of “gay marriage,” but only as a way to gain national office. His true stripes showed in the recent election when he lost all credibility with the Republicans, not only failing to increase their seats in the legislature, but actually losing three additional ones.
He has been working with the very liberal Andy Card (President Bush’s Chief of Staff who plans to return here as a hero and take control of the state) and Card’s brother-in-law, Ron Kauffman (who has been our powerful Republican national Committeeman as long as anyone can remember).

We were told this week by a Washington insider that we get no help from Washington because everyone there believes that the liberal Card and Kauffman represent the citizens of our state. Few are able to discern why Pres. Bush’s father elevated Card to positions of immense power down there. But there is no doubt that despite his many failures, Romney will continue to work only with Card and Kauffman no matter what. He will never attempt to reach out to conservatives in the state. This is particularly true now that everyone understands how weak a leader he is, especially his “friends” at the White House.

Rep. Emile Goguen (D-Fitchburg) sponsor of the resolution to remove Judge Marshall and her three cohorts and reverse her illegal ruling is the hero in all this. He was told by everyone that his career would be over if he filed his resolution but he won his primary election battle this year with a 70%  victory although the opposition targeted him for defeat.

A 71-year-old devout Catholic, Goguen cannot understand why the hierarchy of his Church does not support his efforts to quickly and easily remove the stain of a serious violation of our state Constitution by the Democratic legislature and Judge Marshall in 2002 and again in 2004.

In 2002 Judge Marshall agreed in a ruling on Dec. 20, 2002, that the state Constitution had been violated by the legislature and Gov. Swift, but she also opined that there was nothing she could do about it. (If she had held differently, she would have not been allowed to impose “gay marriage” in the state.)

In 2004, she was the culprit herself, as she authored her illegal ruling about “gay marriage” and then told everyone that Goguen’s resolution should not allow the legislature to remove her from office or else it would weaken our “independent” courts. Despite the predictions of the political pundits, Rep. Goguen is so popular in Worcester County that he is so constantly thanked, hugged and cheered as he walks the streets that he is constantly filled with gratitude. Even in the State House, his colleagues are looking to him for leadership because they also are having qualms as they see large amounts of cash from unknown foreign sources flowing freely. Some wonder if it is money from the mob with their base in Nevada, who are seeking to remove America as the only moral country and the only impediment to a worldwide empire in prostitution, gambling and drugs.

Rep. Phil Travis (D-Rehoboth) also filed a resolution to remove Margaret Marshall      after Rep. Goguen did. He also was one of the seven legislators targeted by the Human Rights Campaign to be punished as a part of their $500,000 “emergency” contribution to Massachusetts in the final weeks of the election. Despite that, he won reelection by a large vote.
