1. REP. SALVATORE DiMASI set to become SPEAKER OF HOUSE – HUGE DISASTER for pro-family movement!
2. What you can do NOW.
3. November election. . .
NEWS ITEM: DiMasi said to secure speakership – reaches deal with rival on tenure length [Boston Globe–Sept 26] It’s hard to imagine a worse scenario than this. DiMasi, a major anti-family force in the Legislature and the prime opponent of the Bill of Address – who lied to his own constituents and later bragged to main homosexual lobbyist Arlene Isaacson that he killed it – is about to become the most powerful legislator in the state.
=== 1. REP. SALVATORE DiMASI set to become SPEAKER OF HOUSE – just how bad is this?? ===
You may remember that Rep. Salvatore DiMasi, as House Majority Leader, was the one who engineered the bottling up of the Bill of Address this past June and July, by ordering Rep. Angelo Scaccia to orchestrate a bogus “secret vote” where it mysteriously came out a tie. (Even though 9 of the 14 representatives present claimed to have voted YES, to allow it to pass to the full House). DiMasi lied to his constituents at a meeting in his office, saying he had nothing to do with it. Then he bragged to the homosexual newspaper Bay Windows that he was the one who killed it (see below).
DiMasi (second in command to Finneran) and pro-family Rep. John Rogers (chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Committee) were both contending for the seat, having heard that Finneran was planning to step down. Apparently, DiMasi got Finneran to broker a deal for him to get it, and Rogers backed down rather than put up a fight. What’s happening? Speaker Tom Finneran’s problems with a certain federal grand jury (as described in recent news reports) appear to have forced his hand. He’s rather suddenly decided to leave the legislature and take a job in the private sector. On Wednesday afternoon, Finneran will have officially stepped down and the House will go back into a quick session. The Democrats will caucus and pick DiMasi to be the new Speaker. However, this will be just be an interim term until the next formal session of the Legislature starts in January. But it will allow him to get an entrenched start. In January (after the elections) the next House will vote again for Speaker. If things go as planned, DiMasi would win that election also. Just what could be in store for us? A lot of people look at the California legislature, with its leading-edge pro-homosexual activity, and say it could never happen here. Well, think again. Salvatore DiMasi is aggressively anti-family, and has thoroughly sold out to the radical left-wing special interests. In an un-checked DiMasi regime, you can expect:
- Important legislative committees chaired by fellow left-wing social activists. The homosexual lobby getting numerous new laws introduced and enacted. Increased funding for homosexual programs in the schools. No bills protecting parents’ rights or any pro-life legislation seeing the light of day. An end to any new charter schools.
- Higher taxes…
On DiMasi – from their own words:
Boston Globe – Sept 26
His succession to the post will be a major change for the House, which has been dominated by Finneran's strong hand and his socially and fiscally conservative views. DiMasi is far more liberal than the speaker, particularly in his support for same-sex marriage, abortion rights, and other social issues.
Boston Globe – Sept. 26
Jennifer Levi, senior staff attorney for Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, said last night DiMasi was a friend to their cause while Finneran failed to support them."Finneran has been no friend to the gay community, and a change of leadership will be helpful," she said. "There's a lot that can happen between now and the next vote, but I would hope that this would be something positive for gay and lesbian families throughout the Commonwealth."
Bay Windows [Boston-based homosexual newspaper] June 24
Arlene Isaacson, co-chair of the Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus, credited DiMasi with working to ensure the [Article 8 Bill of Address] died in committee."Representative Sal DiMasi played a lead role in this as on so many other issues important to the gay community," said Isaacson. "He recognized that was a nonsensical piece of legislation and a totally inappropriate reaction to the court decision because our opponents didn't like it."
March 11 Speech by DiMasi to homosexual rally at State House
[Parroting the homosexual movement’s propaganda. . .]Our commitment binds us to ensure the constitution contains the highest and noblest of ideals. It must not be a weapon to render any citizen less than any of our fellow citizens.
The SJC has found the Constitution does not discriminate amongst its citizens.Today we gather to possibly change that, to consider language so divisive and damaging that we must ask ourselves whether we embrace two classes of citizens? I hope it is not. When legislators have been slow to act, the public has no recourse other than the courts. In respect to civil rights, all citizens are equal under the law. Separate is never equal. Isn't the right of choosing a lifelong partner an issue of equality? Do we not guarantee this basic right of equality?
=== 2. What you can do NOW. === HEY!!! Don’t get depressed and don’t give up. . .
It doesn’t like we can stop DiMasi from taking power as scheduled this week. But we can set the stage for the vote for Speakership that comes up again in January. It’s very possible an opponent will challenge him. But our side needs to show it means business. The next five weeks leading up to the general election are incredibly crucial. We need to make a statement that Massachusetts is not up for grabs by the sexual revolutionaries. That we’re not standing still. If you know of others who are willing to get involved let us know. Or have them contact us through the website (by clicking here). We’ll need people to make phone calls (even from home!), leaflet, all kinds of things. Is there a church or civic group we should come and speak at, where there are people of like mind, who are looking to get involved?
We need to raise a lot of money. A whole lot. The homosexual web sites are bragging they’re pulling together hundreds of thousands more dollars into this. We’re, frankly, struggling to pay off our current printing bills. Do you have ideas??? Do you know people we should contact??
=== 3. November election. . . === As you know, in the primaries we were able to hold off 6 threats, and only lost the seventh (which did not use our full help!) by, at latest count, a mere 96 votes. In the general election, homosexual activists, with national funding and organization help, are targeting several seats in both the House and the Senate. In some races they pose a threat; in others they’re relatively weak. It’s absolutely necessary to keep them from being able to intimidate our legislature by being able to come into Massachusetts and threaten them in elections. There are also some excellent challengers who are poised to unseat some entrenched pro-gay representatives. But everyone’s help is needed. This week we’re assessing the situation. We’re contacting all the relevant campaigns, setting up meetings, and figuring out what needs to be done. We will be publishing a list, and letting you know the lay of the land, and where all of our efforts are best needed. Keep watching these emails!
AS WE’VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG – IT’S UP TO THE PEOPLE NOW! THIS CAN AND WILL BE WON.
We can’t stress enough how, at this critical time, every dollar is desperately needed and greatly appreciated. The homosexual movement is holding expensive dinners, getting corporate funding, and raising millions over the Internet. Our money comes from individuals like you.
