Article 8 Lists Good Candidates Who Can Use Help Across Massachusetts
Work from Home to Assist Candidates in Next Tuesday's Primary, Sept. 14; It's Crucial

IMPORTANT PRIMARIES COMING UP - Sept. 14!
(last updated 9/7/04)

September 14 will be a crucial day in Massachusetts. Well-funded homosexual activist groups, including "MassEquality" and "Freedom to Marry Coalition" have targeted several pro-traditional marriage Democratic legislators (most of whom publicly supported the bill of address) by running primary candidates against them, to defeat them in the Sept. 14 primaries. They're also supporting incumbents who supported same-sex marriage. These gay groups want to make a point, frighten elected officials, and work to tighten their grip on the Legislature.  "MassEquality" and others have raised over $300,000 from across the country to change our legislature. Are we going to allow this to happen?
Good legislators and candidates MUST be supported by good people. This is critical. Getting involved is the price we pay for keeping our freedoms. These campaigns need both people and money.  Even if you live in a different district, contact us on how you can help.
Article 8 Alliance will continue to be a clearinghouse for information on primaries, right up until Sept. 14.

We’ve been on the ground working with the various campaigns.  These incumbents have never been up against anything like this.  And they need our help. We need a lot of people to do “phone-banking”.  That includes calling people in the district (most of whom have voted for the incumbents before) and make sure they still support them and will vote on election day.  That is needed ALL THIS WEEK, and can be done at various locations (e.g., Lowell, Peabody, Everett, Somerville, Fitchburg) or can also be done from home.  It’s generally done between 6-9 pm each evening on site, or possibly at other times. Next Tuesday, election day, we will REALLY need a lot of people, all day, on the phones.  This is to remind voters in the district (whom we know are supporters) to go and actually vote!  In a primary, where voter turnout is generally very low, this is extremely necessary.  And the gays will be out in force doing it, too. If you can help with this, or other things PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL US RIGHT AWAY.  Call:  781-899-4905 or email to bob@article8.org. [We could also use a full-time volunteer over the next week in the office to help with the phones, etc.]

===  3.  Another way you can help.  ===

Over the last few months, the homosexual groups have raised over $300,000 (that we know of, probably lots more) to get their candidates in. We've been focusing about 100% of our efforts on the time-consuming tasks of working with the candidates, organizing, and researching.  But unfortunately we’ve put fundraising on the back burner.  And a few big donations we were counting on didn’t quite come through.   So while our office is open and staffed, but we've had to cut off all salaries and health benefits until further notice.  That way, the office & phones can keep working for at least a few more weeks.   Luckily there is some money for special primary-related supply costs.  But as you can imagine, there’s a certain anxiety connected to this.  Of course, we’re not giving up.  (Maybe that’s how George Washington felt at Valley Forge.) If we’re going to win, we can’t stop and fundraise now.  So we need your help.  Can you support this cause?  Can you get others to support it?  Would you join a fundraising committee dedicated to seeing this through the general election and beyond – to get the bill of address passed?
