Does Weekly Standard Favor Abortion and Gay Marriage; Is Bill Kristol or Fred Barnes in Charge?
The extreme nastiness by Publisher Bill Kristol toward Alan Keyes in the Weekly Standard who published an article, “ Keyes to a Fiasco, Illinois Republicans decide to make a bad situation worse,” has made many wonder.
Which side is Kristol on? He has voluntarily raised the question of whether he is truly a conservative or a neo-conservative, like his father. He raised the issue; no one else did And of course, we will be told that anyone who disagrees with Kristol is “anti-Semitic.”
Most people see this as a battle against those who agree with the Illinois Democratic candidate, Barack Obama, who stridently promotes abortion, gay marriage, continuation of the income tax and such. This message will not sell to blacks anywhere, including Illinois. While many Jewish believers, such as Dennis Prager and Brian Camenker, are solidly on the side of Alan Keyes, the New York secularists like Kristol are showing their true colors.
Even Keyes has problems with being a carpetbagger, but let’s not forget Bobby Kennedy, who started the whole idea, Hillary Clinton or Barney Frank (who never lived in Newton until after he decided to run for Congress). Are we to be idealistic slaves to a theoretical notion or are we to be pragmatic and seize the moment? Should we stop this foolishness in Illinois? Although Fred Barnes is the Editor of the Standard, this shows that Kristol is the power there.
Apparently the stench at the Standard was big, because yesterday the Kristolites made it even worse by showing no remorse at all. Instead, they published: Keyes Mailbag, Why is Alan Keyes a bad candidate? Let me count the ways . . .”
