Focus on Family Not Involved in Ohio Win
Because it was not a high-profile event in Ohio as it was here in Massachusetts and it would not raise any dollars for Focus on the Family, James Dobson did not participate in the successful Ohio campaign. Although he has two affiliates in Ohio, neither of them were active in the campaign. One of the affiliates is still reporting on its website how the Ohio delegation voted on Dobson’s failed Federal Marriage Amendment.
Ode to Massachusetts
Shall I marry my sister in Worcester?
Or betroth my dear cousin in Lynn?
Or elope with my nephew in Brighton?
Oh, I just don't know where to begin!
It's a new day in ol' Massachusetts,
Where the Catholics continue to reel,
For the court, in upholding gay marriage,
Made our state one of well "mass appeal."
Now, a man needn't marry a woman,
Nor a woman cleave unto a man.
Seems the court says those laws are outdated -
We should marry whomever we can.
And it certainly goes without saying
That my rights are my rights are my rights.
Let's not focus on only gay marriage -
Many others deserve the same rites.
We should now give poor Oedipus solace,
And allow him to marry his ma.
In Revere, there's an auto mechanic,
Who would like to get hitched to his cah.
And you pet lovers know what I'm saying -
For the law gives your dearest no due.
So, demand of the clerk of Nantucket
That he marry dear Fido and you!
Shall I marry my sister in Worcester?
Or betroth my dear cousin in Lynn?
Or elope with my nephew in Brighton?
Oh, I just don't know where to begin!
All that leaves are the hermits and stragglers,
Since the flakes and the nuts have been paired.
And, of course, self-beloved Narcissus -
In his mirror he endlessly stared.
Well, there's comfort for even you loners,
You need not waste away on the shelf.
Who's to say you need two to get married?
Why not go marry yourself?!
