Ohio Amendment Marriage Amendment Will Have “Teeth”
The Ohio Marriage Amendment, that was just approved for a vote by the citizens in November, will also forbid civil unions, unlike the proposal that might be presented to Massachusetts voters in 2006. The Ohio measure includes the following language: “This state and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status for relationships of unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance or effect of marriage." |
