August 2004

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Pawlick
I am happy to see Massachusetts News, is still alive and well. While I have not been active lately I am glad to see you are holding some politician’s feet to the fire.
I am not surprised that Tom Finneran has not put forward the marriage amendment for the people to vote on. Tom Finneran is a power hungry politician who being “Irish” only sees green and the more the better. I have never respected or trusted Mr. Finneran, after all, he is a “democrat.”
We all know Bill Weld and those who followed him are the ones who appointed these judges so it gives Finneran cover. Bill Weld only returned to support gay marriage. It is sad but true, unless those holding office are defeated in November; gay marriage is not going to end in this state.
I have given some financial help to Brian Camekers “alliance 8” and I hope to be involved with those opposing liberals.
It is my opinion those who claim to be pro-life have to oppose those who use them claiming to be pro-life when their not. Those who claim to believe in God’s law are not practicing what they claim when they approve of abortion and gay marriage.
Thank you for fighting the good fight I only wish there were more like you.

Dear Mr. Pawlick,

It may also be that Finneran is under pressure from national Democrats to let the gay marriage issue die, since as long as it remains alive, it raises questions as to where Kerry really stands, and that does not play well in the American heartland.
The last thing national Democrats want, for example, is for Kerry to be asked a question such as "Where do you stand on the bills of address?"
As for Kerry's stance that "the issue should be left up to the states", that means that state constitutions must be revised. Well, if he's Ok with state constitutions' being modified then how can he claim that it's wrong to amend the US constitution?
Of course, the "mainstream" press is not asking him (or Bush, in fact) the tough questions.
Moreover, Bush can't fully blast Kerry on this issue because, truth be told, Bush himself has been pretty weak on these issues.
By the way, I FULLY agree with you that civil unions must be banned as they are simply another name for gay marriage.
