NEWS ITEM: Gay advocates hope to sway Mass. primaries [Bay Windows (Boston-based homosexual newspaper)–Aug 19] Well-funded homosexual activist groups have targeted pro-traditional marriage Democratic legislators (most of whom publicly supported the bill of address) by running primary candidates against them, to defeat them in the Sept. 14 primaries. They’re also supporting incumbents who supported same-sex marriage. These gay groups want to make a point, and frighten the Legislature. We must stop them!! (See below.) NEWS ITEM: Finneran lieutenants eye bid for House speaker - Rogers, DiMasi courting members [Boston Globe–Aug 14] Rumors are flying about House Speaker Tom Finneran stepping down. House Majority Leader Salvatore DiMasi is already in the race to succeed him. DiMasi is a major pro-homosexual force in the House. He played a major role in stopping the original Marriage amendment, and other legislative goals they’ve had. He bragged in Bay Windows that he stopped the bill of address in the Rules Committee. In the same article, Arlene Isaacson, head of the Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus added, “Representative Sal DiMasi played a lead role in this as on so many other issues important to the gay community”. If a vote takes place, we must make sure he doesn’t win!

With your help, we’ve been contacting challengers in House and Senate races across the state – Democrat, Republican, and Independent – and we’re building our list of supporters of the bill of address. (Tho not without some troublesome waffling by one or two Republicans we thought we could count on.) It’s a bigger job than you’d think tracking down these people. (And probably some of them would rather not talk about this.) Let us know if you have time to make some calls to candidates. Right now, there are some key primaries that are extremely important. As we mentioned above, homosexual groups are targeting some of the pro-bill of address candidates in Democratic primaries. We can’t let them be successful. But also, we have a chance to bounce out some of the pro-gay-marriage turncoats in primaries. There are some tremendous challengers out there. See the list of critical primary races. As you can imagine, the psychological impact of new pro-homosexual candidates beating established pro-family legislators in primaries would be substantial. And the converse also applies. That’s why this is important. Over the next week, we’ll let you know what you can do. We know a lot of you are weary from the Rules Committee fight, and want to relax. But getting involved is the price we pay for living in a free country. Especially now. AND IF WE LOSE THIS FIGHT, WATCH YOUR FREEDOMS ERODE FURTHER as the gay lobby tightens its grip on our Legislature.
=== 2. Demonstration – Join Us in West Bridgewater Aug. 26! ===
Date: Next Thursday, Aug. 26Time: 4:30 – 6:30 pmPlace: Exit 16 on Rte 24, (junction of 106) W. Bridgewater Make a statement to the politicians in that area, and the people, that this issue is not going away by any means – that the politicians need to take notice, and the people have hope and can get involved! Our recent demonstrations in Hyde Park, Mattapan, and Lexington were VERY successful, made the local papers, and stirred a lot of interest. We are also setting up speaking engagements at churches to inform people, organize, etc. If your church or other group wants to get involved, please let us know. We’re finding there are lots of people who want to know what they can do!

Financial picture. In our last email we included a plea at the end for donations to keep Article 8 office afloat. We’re happy (and grateful) to say that a lot of you responded! This has helped. We’re going to keep going, moving forward, mobilizing people, educating, etc. We’re not out of trouble yet; in fact, we’re down to one full-time paid employee, and still behind in rent & utilities. But the direction is positive. The truth is, this is going to be a huge fight starting this fall. If the gays can raise hundreds of thousands (probably millions) in Massachusetts, so must we. We need to get serious about fundraising. A committee must be formed immediately. If any of you can make a commitment to this, and if it’s important to you, please contact us right now. We simply cannot continue to tread water at this critical time. Petitions. In the last email we mentioned that we received thousands of petition sheets over the last few months. Actually, we meant to say thousands of names! And we want to deluge the state house with signed petitions when they get back in session!! So, keep downloading the sheets! Spam. Some of you may have gotten some spam that looked like it came from us. There seemed to be a leak in the email pipeline, but we’ve fixed that. (We never give out, or even rent, our mailing list or email list to anyone. A lot of groups do, but we would never do it.)
AS WE’VE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG – IT’S UP TO THE PEOPLE NOW! THIS CAN AND WILL BE WON.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FORWARD THIS TO LIKE-MINDED FRIENDS !!
