Readers Still Grappling with News that $54 Million Was Given to GLAD and Others from One Donor; No Wonder Democratic Leaders Are Jumping Through Hoops; National Family Groups Have Nothing Comparable
Readers say it’s difficult to put their arms around the fact that GLAD and other homosexuals have received over $54 in the last ten years from just one donor.
At MassNews, we’ve been estimating that the fifteen-person staff at GLAD, a group of homosexual lawyers who work only in New England and have won civil unions in Vermont in 2000 and “marriage” in Massachusetts in 2003, has a budget of a million dollars a year.
And we worried that we might be high. But we’re obviously way low in our estimates. Let’s compare GLAD (founded in 1978) with the Dobson affiliate, Mass. Family Institute (founded in 1991), which manages to eke out only $400,000/year, to cover a wide range of family issues, of which homosexuality is only one. (In 2002, the wife of the President of MFI had to answer the telephones because they didn’t have the money to hire anyone.)
No national family organizations has the resources to fight this tremendous influx of money.
There’s no doubt about the facts. Lisa link to glad.org GLAD is having a banquet at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in October to honor Tim Gill, the man they say has given $54 million to them and others since 1994. That is over $5 million every year. How much of this awesome money is going to the Democratic Party?
Don’t forget this is just one donor. The large donor is James Hormel of the meatpacking company, who helped start the Human Rights Campaign (now headed by Cheryl Jacques), which gives away over $22 million every year.
There’s no family organization anywhere in the country that can even begin to compete with this power. Related Story - Click Here
