No Doubt -- Speaker Finneran Is Responsible for Failure to Vote on “Removal” of Judges There is no doubt that Speaker Finneran is responsible for the failure to vote on Emile Goguen’s Resolution to Remove Margaret Marshall and the three judges who conspired with her, according to Sally Pawlick, President of Mass. Citizens for Marriage. “He’s going to understand the voters are not happy, watching him break the state Constitution again and refusing to take a vote,” said Pawlick. “This is exactly what he did in 2002 when the Democratic Party failed to take a vote on the Protection of Marriage Amendment. We were new to politics then and believed the experienced conservatives who told us that Finneran is a good man and totally on our side --- even though the facts spoke differently. Even today they still warn us against alienating him. But it is clear that Finneran is just another politician who does what is best for him. “We wonder where he will give a speech this July 4 and talk about the wonderful democracy in which we live. In truth, we are behind Iraq in that regard.” The Speaker has decreed that next Wednesday and Thursday, July 7 and 8, are formal sessions, which means that the House could vote on the measure then. Of course, Finneran could also decree Friday as a formal session if he so desired. “We must continue to talk to all the politicians and make them realize that the voters are much more upset now than they were in 2002 when the Democrats lost the Governor’s office as a result. There will be a major shift this year if Tom Finneran continues on his foolish, stubborn path. Many people are wondering why ‘gay marriage’ is so important to the Democrats. There is a lot of money changing hands somewhere. You know what’s right, Tommy. Do it.” |
