What Is Occurring with Lobbyist for Catholic Church? July2002. Many are wondering why the lobbyist for the Catholic Church, Gerry D’Avolio, assured Pawlick in 2002 that Finneran was solidly on the side of marriage even though his House had just voted overwhelmingly to violate the Constitution and not allow a vote to take place. (The President of the Senate, Tom Birmingham, loudly proclaimed they had done nothing wrong, but the SJC unanimously told them on Dec. 20, 2002 that they had violated the Constitution.) July 2004. The same scenario is occurring again as D’Avolio assures everyone that Finneran is on the side of marriage even though he will not permit the required vote of the Reps to take place on the Removal of the four rogue judges on the SJC. “An unprecedented 500 citizens came out on July 17, 2002 to demand a vote,” says Pawlick, “but even though Finneran’s House voted overwhelmingly against us, Gerry told us that Finneran was on our side. We had no reason to doubt Gerry even though he ran away from the fight and made my husband and me look like fanatics for continuing the battle alone with picketing and successful lawsuits. “Now, when there can be no doubt that the citizens are angry and aroused and the Reps have received pressure from their constituents in record numbers in the form of telephone calls, letters and visits, Finneran and the rest of the leaders are resolute they will follow the orders of some unknown persons who want homosexuality to be revered in this state. “When we mentioned the name of Gerry D’Avolio in MassNews last week, the Globe suddenly printed a glowing article about him the very next day with the announcement that he is retiring later this year. This is certainly very strange stuff when the Globe jumps to defend the lobbyist for the Catholic Church. |
