Headline about U.S. Supreme Court Was Laughable
Monday May 17, 2004

The huge headline on Boston.com was laughable on Saturday night except that most persons believed it, and all the other media fell in behind. It said that the U.S. Supreme Court had turned down the last appeal against homosexual marriage. Any lawyer knew this was a million-to-one attempt. The Court almost never grants an appeal like that. But the Globe played it up as though it was a huge victory and the end of all attempts to remove Margaret Marshall from the bench. The headline was meant to discourage those who are planning to remove Marshall. But it didn’t work. They all know that the loss by this Florida law firm has nothing to do with the removal of Marshall.
