Kennedy Speaks Out for Gay Marriage
“This debate isn't about activist judges,” said Ted Kennedy at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday when commenting on President Bush’s support of a federal amendment to ban gay marriage. "It's about politics -- an attempt to drive a wedge between one group of citizens and the rest of the country, solely for partisan advantage,"
Barney Frank Says Now Is Not the Time
When asked by the Washington Post this week about the marriage excitement in San Francisco, Barney Frank replied, “Now is not the time to be pushing this issue.” The Post continued: “In his more generous mode, he'd call the whole West Coast love-in a ‘well-intentioned mistake.’” They quoted Frank as saying its only result was increasing support for President Bush's proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.
Frank says San Francisco is only hurting the movement. He believes they should have done it the legal way and waited for Massachusetts to start issuing licenses to gay couples in May because it will hurt gay marriage here in Massachusetts if people begin to understand what is in store if gay marriage is allowed to happen here.
NOW President Working for Gay Marriage
The former president of NOW, Patricia Ireland, will be advising groups that are leading the fight against the federal amendment to ban gay marriage, thus corroborating that the radical feminist group is leading the charge for homosexual marriage. Ireland told United Press: “Equal marriage rights will be one of the most explosive issues of the 2004 elections.”
