Opinion Bay Windows says that the homosexuals' biggest organization, which gave $22 million to gay causes in 2002, now has a "diminished" significance. This news has caused many family activists to wonder if we will ever have the courage that the homosexuals do -- who number only 3% of the population, yet appear to control our society at will. Bay Windows pointed out that homosexuals had a great year with a decisive 5-4 win in the U. S. Supreme Court in the sodomy case in Texas (a groundbreaker) and the addition of sexual orientation policies to all the employees of our second-largest employer, Wal-Mart. Yet, they are looking forward, not backward. Meanwhile, the Dobson Empire has continued to tighten its vice-like grip on the family movement. Dobson's people appear to have forced out the President of the Family Research Council, Atty. Ken Connor, this month to make room for a Dobson man who does not appear to even have a college degree. Nevertheless, he will do as he is told and go along with the Federal Marriage Amendment, which someone has decided is crucial for us. Atty. Connor apparently was too independent. The people who are being forced to go along are not sure that a federal Amendment is a good idea. But if it is, they believe we could have much better language than the FMA. It is not a small matter to pass a Constitutional Amendment. If it is done, it should be done right. We reprint here the thoughts of Atty. Jan LaRue of CWA, plus an editorial we ran in February of this year. As stated before, MCM believes there is a good chance that MCM and the family movement will prevail when the SJC finally rules this summer on the gay marriage lawsuit and on the lawsuit filed by MCM on Jan. 2, 2003. Atty. Pawlick has personally appeared before the SJC four times since Oct. 2002 working on this. |
