Marriage Lawsuit Update

Feb. 12 - Hearing scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, in the Single Justice Session of the Supreme Judicial Court before Justice John M. Greaney, who is the longest serving member of the Court, having been appointed by Gov. Michael Dukakis in 1989. He has been a judge since 1975, having served on the Housing Court, the Superior Court and the Appeals Court, where he was Chief Justice, before being appointed to the SJC. Born in Westfield in 1939, he is an honors graduate of Holy Cross College and a Root-Tilden Scholar at New York University School of Law. Before becoming a judge, he was a partner at Ely and King, Springfield.

The Single Justice commonly gives his opinion within a few days. Undoubtedly, the case will go to the full SJC, either upon referral from Justice Greaney or by appeal from one of the parties.
