Editorial:
Core of Our Existence Has Been
Denied by Tommy Birmingham

Whoever, or whatever, made
us, made both men and women.
Is there anyone out there
who denies that there are both men and women on the
planet?
Whether it was a God, an
evolutionary force, a goddess or whoever, they made
two sexes. We assume that the God, the force (or whatever)
knew what they were doing and did it with a purpose.
Therefore, it is self-evident
that in making both men and women, the creator made
both mothers and fathers. When a society ignores that
obvious fact, we are toying with the very source of
our creation.
When a society argues that
men and women are the same and are interchangeable,
they are heading down a road that is in conflict with
our very existence.
We are marching down that
road in our society and in our state.
And we are seeing the damage
everywhere. The evidence is reported almost daily
- as if we need evidence to tell us the obvious -
that children suffer if they do not have the love
of a mother and a father.
This does not mean it is
not possible for a child to be raised by one parent,
just as many people overcome all types of handicaps,
but it is not the desired norm of our creator - whether
it be a force or a God.
It is also an obvious fact
that there are many people who are substandard. If
those people are also parents, the child does not
do as well as if it has outstanding parents (in whatever
manner you judge people).
The Massachusetts legislators
have not been allowed to discuss any of the above
undeniable facts. They are being prevented from debating
this core issue of our planet.
This destruction of our
democratic process must not also be permitted to destroy
a discussion about the core of our existence.
