How Much Money Does Sen. Birmingham Take From Homosexuals?

Go to the State House Today, Let Him Know You're Watching

Most politicians are attracted to money like a moth to light.

Therefore, when the largest homosexual organization in the country cleared $275,000 at its banquet in Boston last year to help with its $8 million annual budget, many politicians were strongly attracted to this treasure - including Senate President Tom Birmingham.

The big question is how much did Birmingham receive out of that $8 million that the Human Rights Campaign has collected?

It has to be the reason he's not even being polite to the 60% of the voters in the state who want the Protection of Marriage Amendment passed. (No one disputes that at least 60% of the people favor it.) The opponents are predicting the Amendment will pass if it goes to the citizens for their vote. No wonder they, and Sen. Birmingham, are so desperate.

There has to be some very strong attraction that makes Birmingham so nasty to more than 60% of the voters. It has to be the money he is taking from his friends at the Human Rights Campaign. He's not showing common decency to the voters. If he were, he would have announced the agenda for the Constitutional Convention ahead of time. Then everyone would know when a vote would take place and would be there to watch. That is only common courtesy.

Instead, he is playing games with the citizens. Only money could be causing him to act in this strange manner.

But even more than that, Sen. Birmingham is threatening to break the law and not even have a Convention. That would be in total violation of the Massachusetts Constitution. But if he can get away with it, he appears ready to try. He will apparently do anything, even violate the law, for money.

That's why hundreds of ordinary voters must be at the State House today before 1 p.m. Although Sen. Birmingham has the Convention scheduled for 2 p.m., he has not had the courtesy to advise exactly what is going to take place at that time.

Will he merely postpone it again? He won't dare if there are enough people there to convince him that the state is watching everything he does.
